What is Fumigation

Fumigation is a method of protection from pests. Pests, insects and bacteria that are thought to be harmful are suffocated by giving gaseous chemicals (fumigant) in a closed environment.

 

 

 

Fumigation is a dangerous operation and legal requirements such as official certificates are often required from businesses that will perform the fumigation. Fumigation also requires other stages. First of all, the area to be fumigated must be in a sealed environment. The fumigant is then released into the area to be fumigated. Then, this area is kept in this way for a certain period of time so that the fumigant spreads over the entire area and kills the pests to be rid of. This area is then ventilated and toxic fumigant gases are removed. Proper ventilation in this environment is critical because of the fumigation situation. It is important to separate the source of fumigant gases from the fumigated product. Although the product is now safe, there may still be harmful levels of fumigant gas in the area. Even if the gas source is completely depleted, there may still be harmful levels of fumigant in the air unless the air in the space is well ventilated.

It is also used during the processing of products to be imported or exported to prevent the transfer of exotic organisms. This method also affects the structure itself. It is also used on behalf of wood producers. It inhibits and affects pests and harmful insects that damage the physical structure such as dry wood termites.
